1. What is A Dickens Holiday? 

A Dickens Holiday is a festive event celebrating the holiday season with activities inspired by the Victorian era and the works of Charles Dickens. It features shopping, entertainment, food, and various family-friendly activities throughout downtown Fayetteville. This year, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary!

2. When does A Dickens Holiday take place?  

The event will be held on November 28th, from 12 PM to 9 PM.

3. Is there an admission fee? 

No, A Dickens Holiday is free to the public! However, some special events, like the Royal Tea and Dr. Engel's presentation, require tickets.

4. What activities can I expect?  

The event includes a Victorian-themed village, artisan and craft market vendors, food trucks, a gingerbread house contest, a candlelight procession, a scavenger hunt, and a family-friendly screening of *A Muppets Christmas Carol*, among other activities.

5. Can I bring my children?  

Absolutely! A Dickens Holiday is family-friendly and offers plenty of activities for children, including visits with Father Christmas, the scavenger hunt, and festive performances.

6. When is the candlelighting ceremony and where do we get candles?  

The candlelighting ceremony will take place at dusk as part of the event festivities. Candles will be provided to attendees at the locations on the event map.

7. Where are the gingerbread houses displayed and how do I vote?  

The Gingerbread House Contest is held at A Taste of West Africa, located at 116 Person St, Fayetteville, NC. Public voting is from 12 PM to 6 PM each day from November 26th until November 28th. Voting details will be provided on-site, allowing attendees to choose their favorites for special prizes!

8. Where are the food vendors?

Food vendors will be located in the designated food court area within downtown Fayetteville, featuring food trucks and tents offering a variety of savory and sweet delights.

9. Are the regular restaurants open and do they have a specialty menu?

Yes, many local restaurants will be open during A Dickens Holiday and may offer specialty menus or holiday-themed dishes to celebrate the occasion.

10. What types of performers are there this year?

This year, expect a diverse lineup of performers, including carolers, street musicians, and theatrical characters from *A Christmas Carol*, enhancing the festive atmosphere throughout the event.

11. Where do I get a schedule of the performances? 

A detailed schedule of performances will be available on this website and can also be found at various information signs during the event.

12. How do I dress for A Dickens Holiday? 

Feel free to dress in your finest Victorian attire to fully embrace the holiday spirit! However, casual festive clothing is also welcome, so wear what makes you comfortable while celebrating.

13. What else is happening downtown that day?  

In addition to A Dickens Holiday, the 4th Annual Holiday Lights at Segra Stadium will be taking place, offering enchanting light displays from November 289 through December 23. You can also catch a performance of *A Christmas Story* at the Gilbert Theater at 8 PM for a nostalgic and heartwarming experience.

14. Are downtown businesses open during the event?  

Yes, as the premier holiday shopping event, most retail, food, and drink businesses in downtown Fayetteville will be open with extended hours throughout the event.

15. Can I volunteer for A Dickens Holiday? 

Yes, volunteers are always welcome! You can sign up to volunteer by using the contact form.
