Step into the world of Charles Dickens and celebrate the joy, music, and laughter of the season at the Fezziwig Ball — a holiday costume ball inspired by the merriest scene in A Christmas Carol.
Led by Dancemaster Jeremy Gershman and the Cape Fear Heritage Dance Club, guests will enjoy live-called Victorian dances such as College Hornpipe, La Coquette, and the beloved finale Sir Roger de Coverly. No dance experience required — every step is taught, and every smile welcomed.
Come dressed in festive or Victorian attire, share light refreshments, and waltz through an evening of cheer and community. The Fezziwig Ball is less a performance than an invitation — to dance, to laugh, and to feel the generosity of Fezziwig’s hearth brought to life once again.

The Cape Fear Heritage Dance Club is a Fayetteville-based group dedicated to preserving the art and joy of historical social dancing. Formed by local enthusiasts who share a love of 18th- and 19th-century music and movement, the club brings the elegance of the past to life through community events, educational programs, and public demonstrations.
Members practice and perform traditional English country dances, quadrilles, and waltzes — the same lively steps that filled ballrooms in the era of Dickens and Fezziwig. Whether in period attire or modern dress, the spirit is always the same: fellowship, laughter, and the simple joy of dancing together.
